Iloilo, GenSan take top prize in nationwide traveling quiz show

Solomon Integrated School de Iloilo and Mindanao State University-CETD came out big during the national finals of Diwa Pasiklaban sa Paaralan, the country’s biggest and only ICT-integrated traveling quiz show for grade school and junior high school students, which was held at SmartKids Asia, Philippines at SMX Convention Center, Pasay City.


Matthew Defensor of Solomon Integrated School de Iloilo was named the winner of the grade school category, with finalists Añamarie Navarrosa of Shalom Crest Wizard Academy in General Santos City and Ayesha Villacarlos of St. Theresa’s College Cebu coming in as first and second runners-up, respectively.


Meanwhile, Dexter Alcarde of Mindanao State University-CETD General Santos won the junior high school category, with Josh Wilfred Abaya of St. Louis College San Fernando City winning second and Elijah Raphael Reala of Don Bosco Technical Institute of Makati claiming third.


With Camille Pratts joining the competition as quizmaster, Diwa Learning Systems Inc., the leading provider of K-to-12 educational resources, ushered in a new season of the traveling quiz show for the school year 2019-2020 with close to 500 schools joining nationwide.


Diwa Pasiklaban sa Paaralan promotes the use of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), using a computerized system and specially designed software to give the show a high-tech feel. It pits the best schools against each other and features questions on Science, Math, Language, Literature, and General Information. To date, the quiz show has traveled to more than 600 locations, visiting around 5,000 schools with more than 12,000 students participating.


For 19 years, Diwa Pasiklaban sa Paaralan has been promoting the innovative use of technology in learning, instilling the spirit of healthy competition, and encouraging the constant pursuit of excellence among students and schools.
