Our Story
The Early Years. Diwa began in 1983 to improve the lives of Filipinos by upgrading the quality of teaching and learning in the country.

Diwa acquires the publishing rights to the high school Science magazine Bato Balani from Filipinas Foundation Inc.
(now Ayala Foundation Inc.).
Grade school Science magazine Salaguinto is launched.
How to Be a Highly Effective Teacher (HTBHET) Seminar Series is introduced in partnership with Bato Balani Foundation Inc (BBFI).
Magica for high school English Language and Literature, Tambuli for high school Filipino Language and Literature, and Kaluskos for grade school Filipino Language and Literature are launched.
From ABC to ICT. Diwa responded to the impact of technology and the Internet in education by going digital in 1999, becoming the first Philippine educational publisher to recognize that technology can make teaching and learning better.

The first Bato Balani and Salaguinto CD ROMs are released.
Diwa Pasiklaban sa Paaralan, the country’s first ICT-integrated travelling quiz show, kicks off.
The official corporate website, www.diwa.ph, goes live.
To put value-added features into its wide array of products, Diwa launches the iDiwa eLearning Program.
Genyo e-Learning, the country’s first online learning management system, is launched.
Diwa Learning Town (www.diwalearningtown.com), an online learning portal for supplemental resources for students, teachers, and parents, goes online. In the same year, it received a Special Citation for Best Website from the Catholic Mass Media Awards.
3G Textbooks is launched. These groundbreaking textbooks integrate technology by providing web links that allowed students and teachers to access multimedia clips, interactive games, and videos.
Digital editions for Bato Balani and Salaguinto magazines are launched.
Diwa celebrates its 30th year by introducing the YoPad, a 7-inch Android device that makes anytime, anywhere learning possible.

Diwa transitions to using the tagline “Innovation in Education” to better reflect its commitment to provide educational resources that will move teaching and learning towards the 21st century.
Diwa Textbooks for Senior High School are launched in time for the national rollout of senior high schools all over the country.
Diwa celebrates the 15th year of Diwa Pasiklaban sa Paaralan with the introduction of the Diwa Pasiklaban Game Card, a palm-sized device that players use during the competition.
Diwa celebrates 35 years with the launch of Diwa Innovation Lab, a traveling pop-up science exposition that brings new technologies within reach of students. It is here that the Diwa Virtual Reality (VR) 360 Classroom Experience is also launched.
Several digital products are launched: Checkbox, a gamified online assessment portal, Diwa Virtual Field Trips, and Genyo DIY Robotics.
The Philippines' first-ever large-scale standing congress, Stand for Innovation, is held.
In celebration of the 40th year of Bato Balani for Science and Technology magazine, Diwa launches Diwa SPARK, a mobile application that provides access to Augmented Reality (AR) content in the Science magazine.
The Diwa 5G innovative suite of educational resources is launched as a response to the unprecedented shifts in education brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Bato Balani Pinoy Scientist Live!, which gave students a chance to get to know a Filipino scientist and learn what it takes to pursue a career in science and technology, is launched.
As the education industry gears up for the return of face-to-face classes, Diwa holds the hybrid event Reinvent|ED: Teaching and Learning for the Evolving World to encourage school leaders to reimagine education in order to engage more meaningfully with the emerging generation of learners, educators, and parents.
As Diwa turns 40 in 2023, the leading educational publisher in the country will continue to work with educators to shape generations of Filipinos through innovation in education.
